Fantastic news that a quote from Mary Brooksbank's Jute Mill Song (above) has been chosed as one of two new inscriptions to be carved on The Scottish Parliament's Canongate Wall.

The wall is a highly underated part of the parliament and in many ways is one of the most public faces that the building presents, this new addition along with the existing ones is a beautiful reminder of Scotland's culture and heritage.

Just wonderful thanks Joan. I first heard about Mary at school along with Mary Slessor and other Dundonian women. We had a very 'modernistic' primary school teacher who thought women's voices ought to be heard.
