Now for some good news. We are getting pandas, as a result of deal between the Scottish and Chinese governments. While Sunday's visit to Edinburgh of the Chinese vice premier and key members of the cabinet also led to a ground-breaking renewable energy deal and major investment in the Grangemouth oil refinery, the cute and furry factor dominates twitter and facebook. Panda positivity is already making an impact. No sooner were we told they were coming to Edinburgh zoo than Time Magazine published a list of the world's "Top Ten Aspiring Nations". Scotland is, naturally, number one....more on all this in my Scotsman column tomorrow

With today's 1000 plus job announcment from Amazon this is a great start to the year for Scotland.
Two in the eye for the merchants of doom.
Also Alex Salmond's lines are getting (even) better. He must have a new speechwriter.

I must admit to being a wee bit excited at the thought of being able to see pandas at Edinburgh Zoo.
Good news for the zoo which I believe is having financial problems and good news about all the rest too
