Glad to see Angela Constance moved onto the Scottish government's front bench, as tipped in my last post. And the gender balance has swung further in favour of females, with a beefed up role for the environment minister Roseanna Cunningham, who takes on climate change, now separated from transport. Alas my mini-campaign to have more redheads in the cabinet appears to have failed, with the young Barbara Castle lookalike Shirley-Anne Somerville remaining on the back benches. She will no doubt continue to effectively articulate concerns about the chaotic Labour/Lib Dem tram scheme in Edinburgh.
Keith Brown MSP is the new Transport Minister. He was a council leader in Clackmannanshire and previously held a brief at the education department. But it is perhaps his earlier life as a Royal Marine that best qualifies him for the task ahead - battling the media as well as the weather, if last week is anything to go by.
