Took my dog to the groomer along the road in Portknockie the other day and came across this view from the cliff tops. Portknockie isn't the most famous of the villages on the Moray/Banff/Buchan coastline: Cullen, home of the skink, Pennan, set for local hero, and Portsoy with its Traditional Boat Festival all more familiar. But every village is a gem. This is the Bow Fiddle rock, whose name is self-explanatory. Along the road there is a sea cave called The Devil's Lum, which is terrifying and exhilirating all at once. It really is like standing at the gates of Hades.
